Shaome Cooperative is honored to receive a $10,000 grant from Cox Charities to support our GROW Program in Bibb County schools. This generous funding will help us bring hands-on food-security education to more students through school gardens, Food Forest learning, and real-world lessons that connect children to the land, their food, and their communities. We are deeply grateful to Cox Charities and Cox employees for investing in a future where every child has the knowledge and confidence to help grow lasting food security. Thank you, Cox Charities, for helping Shaome grow!

At Lewis Elementary, Shaome Cooperative joined students and educators for a joyful Student Planting Day as their new GROW Food Forest began to take root. Students helped plant the plant between the new fruit and nut trees. They explored the garden with curiosity, and experienced firsthand how food, learning, and care for the land all connect. These moments are at the heart of GROW: giving children practical food-security skills while helping them see themselves as growers, stewards, and changemakers. Thank you to the Lewis Elementary team, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this garden possible. Let’s grow, Lewis!

During Student Planting Day in the Food Forest at Turner Woods students rolled up their sleeves and helped bring their new GROW Food Forest to life. Together, they planted, learned, asked questions, and took part in the first steps of a hands-on growing and learning space. This is where food-security education begins: with students touching the soil, planting with purpose, and seeing that they can help grow the future. Thank you to everyone who made this day possible. We are excited to see what GROWs in these students and in this community!
