About Shaome Cooperative

Our Core Values

  • Soil Care and Compassion: Shaome Cooperative embraces the value of nurturing, symbolizing care and compassion towards those they serve. Like nurturing a plant, we provide support, guidance, and resources to help individuals and communities achieve food security.
  • Roots – Sustainability and Stability: Just as a strong root system provides stability and nourishment to a plant, we aim for sustainability and stability in all that we do. We prioritize building strong foundations, cultivating long-term relationships, and ensuring viability and resilience over time.
  • Trunk – Support and Empowerment: The trunk is a tree’s support mechanism, and it represents the continuous process of improvement and development. We prioritize empowering individuals and communities to grow and succeed, providing opportunities for learning, skill-building, and sharing.
  • Branches – Collaboration and Community: Just as branches extend outward to connect with others, Shaome Cooperative values collaboration and community engagement. We recognize the strength and diversity of partnerships, networks, and collective efforts in achieving shared goals and making a broader impact.
  • Fruit Impact and Results: The fruit symbolizes the tangible outcomes and impact of our efforts. Shaome Cooperative strives to bear fruit by making meaningful contributions to society, addressing pressing issues, and creating positive change in the lives of individuals and their communities.

The concept for Shaome (pronounced “show me”) Cooperative comes from the Together We Grow film about the Common Unity Project in New Zealand (https://happenfilms.com/together-we-grow). We have adapted their plan to suit our particular circumstances and participants.
