Learn to grow a Food Forest — and a food secure future.
Shaome Skool is where our food forest curriculum comes to life online. Built by the team behind Shaome Cooperative’s GROW Program, Shaome Skool helps students, educators, and lifelong learners explore how nature teaches us to grow smarter — not just greener. From hand-on “STEM in the Garden” lessons to Food Forest design certifications, every module connects classroom learning with real-world sustainability.

what You’ll Learn
Shaome Skool teaches you how to take bare land and transform it into Food Forest abundance. Through guided lessons, activities, videos, and real-world examples, you’ll learn how to:
~ Read the land — observe sun, water, wind, and soil patterns to work with nature, not against it
~ Choose the right plants for your climate and goals
~ Map out your own Food Forest design using easy templates and planning tools
Who It’s For
Shaome Skool is for everyone who wants to learn how to be food secure:
~ Educators looking to bring STEM in the Garden lessons to their students
~ Students eager to explore environmental science and sustainability
~ Home gardeners who want to learn to grow a food forest in their own backyard
~ People who want to want to be the change in food education in their community
Why It Matters
Every lesson is part of something bigger — a movement to make Georgia the first food-secure state in the nation.
By blending science, sustainability, and community, we’re not just teaching how to grow food — we’re teaching how to grow resilience.
Each course plants the knowledge and confidence students need to transform their communities, one Food Forest at a time.

A Letter to Our Community from Shaome Cooperative
Georgia is at a turning point.
Across our state, families are feeling the pressure of rising food costs, school nutrition teams are stretched thin, and communities are searching for real, lasting solutions to food access.
At the same time, Georgia’s students are hungry for hands-on learning — the kind that connects science to soil, math to mapping, and community to the food on their plates.
This moment calls for leadership, education, and a statewide shift toward food security.
That is why Shaome Cooperative created the Food Forest Foundations Certification.
This certification is more than a course.
It is a pathway to resilience — for educators, for leaders, for students (of all ages), and for Georgia’s future.

Georgia Needs a New Approach to Food Security
Georgia ranks among the states with significant food access challenges. For many families, fresh produce isn’t always within reach. But food security isn’t just about access — it’s about capacity. It’s about teaching people how food grows, why ecosystems matter, and what communities can do to change their own future.
A Food Forest is a living example of that solution.
And this certification empowers educators and leaders across the state to understand, design, and replicate this powerful model in their own communities.
Schools Need Learning Spaces That Do More
A Food Forest is not a garden — it is an outdoor laboratory.
It introduces students to:
- biology
- engineering
- health and nutrition
- sustainability
- problem solving
- teamwork
It also produces real food.
Georgia schools are already embracing our GROW Program, but they want more — more training, more depth, more teacher-friendly support. This certification is the next step in meeting that demand.
Teachers Need Tools That Teach Real-World Skills
Georgia’s educators are some of the most innovative, dedicated professionals in the country — but they lack access to standardized, practical training in food systems, ecology, and regenerative design.
Teachers have told us they want:
- hands-on project-based learning,
- curriculum that connects directly to the GSE,
- real-world skills their students can use at home, and
- training that feels meaningful and relevant.
And we’re delivering! We have provided GSE-aligned curriculum to schools, raised bed gardens, and food forests are in the works! The next step is education tied to certifications, so we can multiply the number of people who can teach other people how to become food secure!
The Food Forest Foundations Certification answers that call with:
✔ 18 video lessons
✔ downloadable worksheets
✔ mapping + design skills
✔ plant selection + ecosystem knowledge
✔ additional resources
It gives teachers & leaders something powerful: confidence.
The confidence to lead.
The confidence to grow.
The confidence to teach food security.
Georgia Is Ready — and Shaome Cooperative Is Leading the Way
We have already seen what happens when students, teachers, and communities engage with Food Forests:
- Students become more curious.
- Teachers feel empowered.
- Schools grow healthier learning environments.
- Communities reconnect with nature.
- Families take food-growing skills home.
- Georgia moves a little closer to becoming the first food-secure state in the nation.
The Food Forest Foundations Certification is the next step in scaling that impact statewide.
Communities Need Leaders Who Understand
Ecological Design
Food Forests are not random plantings; they are carefully designed ecosystems.
When community leaders — municipal staff, nonprofits, PTOs, extension agents, and volunteers — understand how ecosystems function, everything changes.
This certification trains leaders to:
- read the land
- map sun, water, and wind
- select the right plants
- design for longevity
- avoid common mistakes
- create community-based stewardship models
Communities thrive when local leaders are equipped with shared language, shared skills, and shared vision.
Georgia Needs a Workforce Prepared for the Future
Agriculture is Georgia’s #1 industry — and it is evolving quickly. Regenerative agriculture, sustainability, ecosystem restoration, and ecological landscaping are rapidly growing sectors. Students exposed to Food Forest systems are developing skills that open doors to careers in:
- environmental science
- horticulture
- urban agriculture
- conservation
- forestry
- landscape design
- community development
This certification builds a foundation that supports the future workforce Georgia needs.
