OTHER CONDITIONS
There are so many things people are sick with these days it's hard to keep up. Some are the old stand-bys...colds, the flu, heart disease. Some are old-timers making a comeback...measles, mumps, rubella. Some have been around, but are now epidemic...diabetes, diseased organs, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's. And then there are new-comers that have emerged...Restless Leg Syndrome, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Sudden Infant Death Sydrome (SIDS), Celiac Disease, many others, and many, many undiagnosed ailments. How does anyone walk around with any hope of being healthy? It's actually easier than you think.
First, you have to stop thinking that you are going to get sick. Thoughts are very powerful because, as the Bible says in Proverbs 23:7, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." If thoughts swirl around in your head long enough you start to believe them, and then those thoughts start spilling out of your mouth. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit." Your words are so powerful that they can cause death and life. Did you know that?
Don't speak death to your body, speak life! When those negative thoughts pop into your head, immediately speak positive thoughts to turn them around. Eventually those negative thoughts will be replaced.
Second, you need to treat your body right. Your body was designed with AMAZING coping and healing mechanisms. I mean some people last for decades treating their bodies very poorly, but that doesn't mean you should. Who knows what kind of suffering they could have avoided, or how much happier they could have been, or how long they may have lived, had they done the RIGHT things. Besides, when you're healthy, life is better. You look better, you feel better, you respond to other people better. Everything is just...better!
So are you thinking, "Does that mean I have to spend endless boring hours at a gym that I hate, and eat dry, disgusting lettuce that I hate, and never have any fun anymore?" NO! Do you know anyone who eats right and exercises? Do they complain about it? Do they look like they hate what they're doing? Do they say things like, "Man, what I wouldn't give for a few days on the couch in front of the boob tube with a couple of bags of McDonalds!" (I'm talking about people who are truly healthy eaters, not someone who has been on a crash diet for two weeks.) NO! People who eat right and exercise are typically HAPPY, SMILING, HELPFUL people who love their form of exercise and the way they eat.
Yes, that's a generalization, but just start looking around and talk to some of these people and see for yourself. Ask them how they got to their current physical condition. Assuming you can actually find someone near you who eats right and exercises, you will probably hear all kinds of stories from people who started out as unhealthy as you are, and then turned their lives around. You may actually make a friend or two who will be excited to help you get to the new healthy you, and be a mentor to you along the way.
Third, you need to educate yourself about health, food, alternative medicine, spirituality, etc. Since you're here reading this site, I assume that you're at least mildly interested in making a change in your life. Good for you! This site is a great place to get a little bit of information about a lot of things. There are many resources referenced on these pages that will point you toward even more information, but don't stop there! Keep walking down the path, and soon you won't feel powerless anymore. You won't be frustrated. You'll be able to make informed decisions about your health and your life that will change you forever for the better.
